HANWANG, China - Chinese teenager Yang Liu lay alive but buried under the rubble of her school on Wednesday, knowing that the only way she will survive is if she loses her legs.
Yang has been fed, given water and a white helmet as workers remove ruins brick by brick from around her and a crane pulled away slabs of concrete — the remains of the school that parents said had around 800 students before Monday's quake hit.
Rescuers took a photojournalist to where Yang was trapped, before rushing his photos, along with Yang's mother, to the local hospital, where surgeons studied them in preparation.

She could be saved, but she would lose her legs.
"They are preparing to do surgery now, but the level of difficulty is very high," said one rescue worker.
Girl 'calm and stable'Rescuers had deemed it too dangerous to move the concrete to free her legs.
"They decided that they can't move any of the rubble from on top of her, because it might bring more down on her," said Wang Jue, a Chinese journalist.
"So to save her life, they'll cut off her legs. She's calm and stable," he said.
Parents crowding outside the gate of the Dongqi Middle School were desperate for news of their own children, hoping they too might still be found alive.
Rumors rippled through the crowd that the voices of as many as four or five could be heard calling out from below the rubble of the four-story school.

Wailing relatives

The neighborhood was nearly deserted, but for a crowd of 100 or more relatives gathered at the school's entrances, many of them crying and wailing, and all of them exhausted.
Across the way, Gao Weihua stood in front of the wreckage of her home, as a team of about 30 rescuers approached on foot, carrying shovels, saws and other tools.
One yelled, "Are there people in these buildings?" and Gao cried out, "Yes, my mother." She could still hear the voice of the 70-year-old woman inside.
Nearby the school, the leader of a rescue crew preparing to dig into yet another ruined building gave his team a pep talk.
"In my whole life, I've never done anything like this, I've never seen anything like this, but we must be soldiers now," said the leader, Yang Xin.
"We must fully do our duties," he said. "You are my flesh and blood, and the people buried in here are our flesh and blood."

My Chem Spa went really bad, the paper was A-okay but I screwed up. Nice one Cheryl.
And (surprise surprise) there's Econs test tmr.

This jerks me back to last year!

When each day seemed to be a raging war. Three tests a week? Common. Four tests a week? Sorry, but deal with it. Weekends were no longer 'recuperating periods', they became mug-your-ass-off days, just like any other day. The only exception was being spared from the suffocating uniform. Everyone became so accustomed and fine-tuned, a day without tests or time practices or consultations seemed abnormal. We were complete robots. Every break, even a 15 minute one, the sight of people staring at their notes or scribbling away like
some super turbo speed machine, engulfs you with so much guilt that you push your plate away. You retrieve your notes. You stare at the endless lines of alphabets. Numbers. Chemical symbols. Economic diagrams. Day after day, you return home, tired and battered, only to have a quick meal, and hit the books again. Do you ever put your pen down? Maybe only to rub your eyes, trying to erase the looming thoughts of collapsing into that nice, comfy bed of yours. Incessant yawning. Mugs and mugs of coffee. The stains decorate your notes, a beautiful artform which you only desire to devour word for word.3 AM. you're not alone at home, and yet the only breathing you hear is from yourself. Your Mom complains that you treat the home like a hotel. You are long gone before dawn, and back only at twilight. You hear her pleas, but somehow you know there is no way out of this never-ending cycle. You finally get to sleep, but you know- Tomorrow is another battle. And the day after tomorrow, is yet another one. When does it truly end? Imagine living like this 7 days a week.

Imagine reliving it again.

How come the History Room is never as nice as the Lit Room! The parquet flooring, the extravagant posters and paintings, the oh-so-huggable cushions and plushies ... Man. I should have taken Lit!
But, fyi, the history room is now in transition phase. Yes, the old pizza boxes and cardboards are STILL around, but the room looks much much nicer now. 'Cept that the rollable octehedral tables and rolly rolly seats are poof! Long gone. Where to? Probably some Serangoon Aunty's residence. WHY? Cos my dear nyjc is open to everyone and anyone. ANYONE can come in, use the field, use the track, the bball courts, the canteen, there're even people washing their clothes in the toilets. Talk about care and share huh :D

Saturday was late night mahjong with Jackson, Siyang and Ling! Met up with the two botaks at like 10 pm, and then headed to Ling's, two rounds in 7 plus hours, Jack diaozhenged for like 7, 8 games for the last game of the last round, blaaaaaghhhh :(

Actually prior to the event I was having the Monday Blues, my GP tutor was being a total PITA*pain in the ass, Elaine and I had to exit the classroom. It's like the first time in my entire JC life being asked to get out of the class. It was kinda cool, Elaine and I chilled out and did Chemistry. But she called us back in, ten minutes before time, I was pretty sure she's experiencing extreme moodswings. And we bore the brunt of it. Awesomezzz.

I was thinking, should I skip school Wednesday! The thing is, School wants us to turn up in House Tee with Jeans. Like HELLO, we'd all get arrested by the Fashion Police. For Ct period today, Mr K made us face us face a classmate each, my partner was Maocheng(Jeen! LOL) and we had to face and tell the person how we wish to see ourselves in 10 years time. The only thing I could really think of was 1)travelling the world 2) Watching Arsenal play at the Emirates. MC told me he wants to 1) be a househusband(???) 2) Become C Ronaldo's agent 3) Meet up with Borong all nonsensical answers hahaha yeah and then at the end of it all, Mr K asked, " Raise your hand if your aspiration does not require a university degree." My right leg's screwed. I think I need medical attention, pronto. I'm walking like a total idiot in school. Or am I like over-reacting, but then again my leg feels like it's gonna fall off any moment. Actually I wish it would, so then I can snuggle up in a wheelchair and be all cool like Professor X. The highlights of the night for me

1. Faith knocking into someone at Compass, and telling me "I bang him very hard" (HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA)

3. Sheri, Justina and I talking in Cow's room and imagine this- the door slams open suddenly, you look up open-mouthed, three people holding a cake and singing Happy Birthday DAMN LOUDLY, it was too much of a shock for me to take, I was laughing my ass off hahahaha

4. ZhaHu-ing in the third round (omg hahaha)

I am glad to announce that I won 5 bucks in the second round, and 9 in the third, way to go Cheryl :D I recouped my losses! But seriously, everyone was just brain-dead by that hour, we played from like, say, 9 pm to 8 in the morning, talk about stamina baby

CCA Bazaar this afternoon, it was slightly better than the Open House, OH was a total disaster ugh but yeah we had our soccer booth at the atrium (it was drizzling!), quite a prime spot, and people were coming over to check things out, but girls were still giving the "UH HELLO NO??" faces when we asked " Hi do you wanna join soccer" I enjoyed the PUGI performance, especially the saber-wielding parts HAHAHA although I was trying to keep a straight face throughout hahaha after everything was KPT with Keli and lots of laughs (: Oh and someone's special someone came by today :D

Back to Mr K, he is SUPA SUPA ENTHU about building class spirit, for CT period today, he had us come up with a class motto of some sorts, and omigawd a class cheer, he also wants a class song, and get this- A CLASS MUSICAL.

The crowd at The Arena .. were the same old people, except for the mass turnout of ex-XMS people. It was, in simpler terms, a high school reunion of some sorts. But Wenger refused to write off Chelsea and admitted he is sure all four of England's big guns will slug it out until the end.
"We are confident. The belief is there but I prefer that it remains a four horse race because it is more interesting," Wenger said.
"It makes a day like this great for the Premier League. As long as there are four teams in it the interest is even bigger.
"The other two are still involved. Liverpool had the biggest disappointment because they dropped points at home but they are not out of it. Neither are Chelsea because they showed here that they are a good team."
This was a statement game for Arsenal. Their purist principles have never been in doubt but for too long they have been vulnerable against teams who try to rough them up.

Actually there was nothing much about Prom, it was the POST PROM that was the highlight of the night, really. HAHA! The crowd was quite okay, and it was an eye-opener, it was rather entertaining watching people, and people watching. People from school getting frisky, getting touchy, getting high, in the claustrophobic room, everything was almost cringe-worthy hahaha.

Anyway, the soccerettes made multiple trips to the dancefloor, dancing even till lights on, HAHA

It was an eventful night lah, actually the excitement of seeing everyone dressed up dies down eventually, what kept everyone smiling was the company, (:

Weekend hustle and bustle

Not everyone turned up, but I guess we had fun all the same, I had like a million chicken nuggets and weird-looking hotdogs, hahaha.
There was even like a information-sharing session, everyone dished out dirty little secrets about their schools, and uh, I think with Tataric, NY came out tops. Whoppee, haha!
Some of us then went down to Liquid Kitchen, Gardens, Angie and I shared a Vanilla Baileys Martini(?) and by then, she had the irresistable urges for Shaker Fries HAHAHA
And just when I thought YAY GO HOME SLEEP..

A day in Town after training

After not training for ages, playing 3 V 4 on the field felt like a test of death. Ok, I am exaggerating, but seriously, we need to play more, build up everything again, to beat the juniors for the testimonials. We can do it, I know we will, and whoever who wants to play for the winning team, come knock on our doors hahaha

Prom is such a pain in the neck, and what kind of a theme is Salsa anyway! Guys who follow the theme will probably look as masculine as Kumar. Tight fitting pants with flares, go figure.
